About Vahe
Alaverdian:
Vahe' Alaverdian is a
Master falconer with 29 years of experience handling and training raptors. His
passion for the sport of falconry started at the age of seven with a Eurasian
Kestrel. He has been exploring the globe to study different methods of falconry
in various cultures. His keen knowledge of wildlife, habitat and animal
behavior, in conjunction with his acute falconry experience, allows him to
assess and approach each situation, and apply proper falconry based bird
abatement techniques best suited for the situation.
Falcon Force is dedicated
to providing traditional falconry methods to control nuisance birds at
vineyards, crop fields, airports, and landfills. "Falconry based bird abatement" is the use of trained
falcons and hawks to intimidate and scare off nuisance birds which cause loss of
revenue for crop growers, health hazards in landfills, and safety concerns in
airfields. Very often the presence of the
raptor is enough to deter and intimidate the prey species. It's a natural
predator and prey relationship that evolution has programmed them to
avoid.
Historically, everything from
Mylar tape, netting, scarecrows, horns, propane cannons, flares, screamers, bird
bombs, shotguns and poisons have been used, but yet the birds find ways to adapt
to these inferior methods. Falconry based bird abatement is quiet, discrete,
organic, eco-friendly and very sustainable. The objective is not killing the
nuisance birds, but scaring them off the premises.
Falcon Force is the marriage of a very deep passion for
the ancient art of falconry coupled with the practical use of raptors for bird
abatement in a modern day landscape.
