The geography of happiness sounds nice, but what does it actually mean? Can one place, compared to another, actually make us happier? What exactly about where you live contributes to higher amounts of happiness?

How should we measure happiness? By health? By wealth? By education? By location?

So what does place have to do with being happy, satisfied or having a good quality of life?

Anne-Marie background info: Masters of science in human geography from Victoria, University of Wellington, New Zealand. Researched suicide and subjective well-being for 2 years then worked for a suicide prevention research institute in Australia for 1 ½ years. Now interested on the impact of spirituality/religious behaviour in psychiatric care and well-being.
